Setting up the Vend (Acquired by Lightspeed) Integration
By integrating with platforms like Vend, Capitan gives you the ability to use the world's leading POS and Inventory Management platforms to streamline your retail operations.
To setup the Vend integration, on the Staff Site underneath "Admin" select "Organization Settings".
Under "Integrations" select the "Connect with Vend" button. This will bring you to Vend's website where you will verify you want to connect Vend with Capitan.
Once connected, Capitan will sync all of your existing customers to Vend (first name, last name, email, phone number, birthday and barcode). Capitan will also sync all entry passes, prepaid memberships and event vouchers set to be sold in your POS.
Any new customers or products created in Capitan will automatically be synced in the future as well.
Note: For existing gyms, Capitan initially syncs 50 customers a minute with Vend so we don't make too many requests at once to the Vend's API.
Using Vend with Capitan
When a customer comes into your facility and wants to make a purchase, you will run the transaction through Vend. Vend will include your Capitan products and any other items you carry in your facility (snacks, climbing shoes, t-shirts, etc.).
All Capitan entry passes, prepaid memberships and event vouchers synced with your Vend account under the Capitan brand to make them easy to find.
When a customer makes a Capitan purchase, it is crucial to add the customer to the purchase so it is added to their profile in Capitan.
Once the transaction is complete, the Capitan products will automatically be added to the customer's profile. You will also see the Vend transaction in the customer's Payment section.
Items that can not be sold in Vend
There are two types of memberships that can not be sold in Vend: Group Memberships and any Recurring Memberships. For both these types of memberships they must be purchased directly from Capitan. We recommend having a tablet at the front desk a staff member can hand to a customer to complete purchase of these types of memberships.
FAQs When using Vend with Capitan
Will I be charged two transaction fees when using Vend with Capitan?
No, you will not be charged two transaction fees when using Vend with Capitan. You will only be charged the transaction fee from the payment processor integrated with Vend. The transaction is recorded in Capitan so your team has one place to look up all information regarding one customer.
What hardware do I need to use Vend?
Vend is hardware agnostic, but you can find their recommendations here.
Is Vend available in my country?
As of writing this in June 2022, Vend is currently available in US, Canada, United Kingdom, and Australia.
How does Vend work with my accounting software?
When using Vend, you can integrate directly with your accounting software (including Quickbooks Online and Xero). To ensure you are not double counting sales, all purchases of products in the Capitan category done via Vend will not be included in any Capitan accounting reports.
