Membership Restrictions
Membership restrictions give you more authority to set additional rules around memberships, from who can purchase the membership to when it can be used.
The following restrictions can be applied to memberships in Capitan.
Membership Entry Restrictions
These restrictions limit when and/or where a customer may use the entry method to enter your gym.
Is this membership restricted to a single location?
For multi-gym organizations, when this option is enabled a customer purchasing this membership will need to select the location where the membership can be used. The customer will not be able to use the membership at any other location. When this restriction is not enabled, the membership can be used at any location within your organization.
Is this membership limited to entry at certain days/times?
To offer peak or off-peak memberships, enable this restriction. When enabled, you will be able to set the days and times when this membership can be used for entry. If a customer with this membership tries to enter the gym outside of the set time range, they will not be able to enter. When not enabled, a customer may use their membership to enter the gym at anytime. Note: Some gyms find this restriction useful for youth programming where they are charged as members.
Membership Purchase Restrictions
Is this membership restricted to new members?
If this option is enabled, this membership may only be purchased for customers who have not previously held a membership at your organization. This gives you an easy way to offer discounted prepaid memberships to try and attract new members.
Allow Purchase for Unlinked Customers?
If this is enabled, then customers may manually enter the member's name and birthday when purchasing a membership, in addition to the options of purchasing the membership for themselves or a linked customer. If the manually-entered details cannot be matched to an existing customer, an Unlinked Membership inbox item will be created. For group memberships, manually-entered details will always generate an inbox item, so staff can verify that a group membership should be allowed for the chosen members.
Allow Purchase when Not Logged Into Climber App?
If this is enabled, then customers may purchase this membership without being logged in to the Climber App. They will be asked to enter their name, birthday, and email address instead. This is useful for memberships you want any customer to be able to purchase online. This may only be enabled if you allow purchase for unlinked customers.
Does this membership require staff approval?
If this is enabled, then a newly-purchased membership of this type will be placed in a "Pending" state and a "Memberships Pending Approval" inbox item will be created for it. If a customer with a pending membership attempts to check in, an error message will be displayed prompting staff to review their membership. This is useful for discounted memberships where you want to verify the customer qualifies for the discount (student memberships, concession memberships for veterans, NHS workers, etc.).
