How does a parent purchase a membership for their child?

Purchasing a Membership When the Owner and Member are Different

For every membership in Capitan, there is a Member and an Owner.

The Owner is the person responsible for buying, managing and handling ongoing billing for the membership.

The Member is the person that can use the membership for entry.

For most adults, these are the same person (ie an adult buys a recurring memberships, they are responsible for the recurring payments and use it to enter the gym).  However, for children it is often a parent or guardian responsible for managing the membership.

If a customer comes into your gym and wants to buy a membership for someone else and retain ownership so they are the responsible party for future payments and managing the membership, follow these steps...

For a prepaid membership:

  1. If a customer is purchasing a prepaid membership for someone else, sell the membership in your POS and attach the purchase to the owner's profile.
  2. Navigate to the owner's profile in Capitan.
  3. Select "Edit" next to the membership and the "Reassign" option.
  4. Select the customer that will be the actual member using the membership and hit "Save".

For a recurring membership:

  1. If a customer is purchasing a recurring membership for someone else, sell the membership directly in Capitan by navigating to the Owner's profile and selecting "Purchase Membership".
  2. Have the customer fill out the details required for the selected membership on a tablet or other device.
  3. Once the membership has been purchased, select "Edit" next to the membership and the "Reassign" option.
  4. Select the customer that will be the actual member using the membership and hit "Save".
